Strict Meal Policies
One weird comment was, “At one friend’s house, everyone has their own plate, bowl, cup, and silverware that they use for every meal and nobody else uses. They all stack them in their own pile in the cabinet. Guests get one of the guest settings, which you will then use every time you visit. You are expected to wash your own plate, etc. I asked my friend once why they did that, but they didn’t really know. They had just always done that.”
Another comment said, “friend’s mom would always cook, but you were not allowed to add salt or pepper or even mention it. and you could only have a glass of water with every meal, nothing else.”

Bedtime or Curfew Rules
A comment was, “It wasn’t a rule, but I had a friend in high school, and her mom acted and treated us like little kids. The one time I spent the night with her, her mom told us we had to go to bed at 8:30 on a Friday night. I was 17.”
A second comment was, “Went to stay the night with a buddy during summer break when I was around 12ish? We had a fun day. It was starting to get late, so we settled downstairs for a night of video games and soda. The next thing I know, this alarm goes off, and his mom comes down. Time for bed, she says..it was 9 o’f****king clock on a Saturday in July. Luckily we lived only a few blocks from each other. I walked my a**** home.”
Bathroom Usage Etiquette
One user replied, “When I visited my classmate, every time her parents offered me a bath when I arrived. It didn’t seem very strange to me at the time, but now it does.”

Suddenly, my friend’s mom took my bowl and said, “You can’t have cold milk. You will get sick.” And then she put it in the microwave, cereal, and milk. I was forced to eat a soggy bowl of cereal. I never went back there.”
