“Caffeine addiction: soda, energy drinks, coffee, tea, etc.,” suggested one. “It’s chronically dehydrating and bad for the kidneys. There is also a crash after excessive consumption.”

Cell Phone Addiction

One person said, “Cell phone addiction has got to be the most overlooked. People act like they’ll die if they have to sit for ten minutes without checking social media. Or playing games, online casino games, and all the other addictions that come with having an entertainment device in our pockets all the time.”

$8 – 900-Calorie Morning Coffee

One person suggested $8 – 900-calorie morning coffee.” Another semi-jokingly responded, “Coffee-flavored sugar. It’s my favorite dessert.”

A second person added, “Using the ‘I haven’t had my morning coffee yet’ excuse for being a grump in the morning too. But, no, stop being a jerk. I don’t drink coffee at all, and I still somehow manage to treat you respectfully.”

Tanning

“Tanning,” one answered. “People must know it can’t be healthy to look like an Oompa Loompa!” A second shared, “I knew a girl diagnosed with skin cancer after years of fake baking. She was a sweet girl, and her family was well-liked and respected in the community.”

Excessive Screen Time

“Excessive screen time. Be it cell phones, televisions, kindles, computers, or video games. Too much screen time is the most accepted unacceptable behavior in society,” another suggested.

Social Media

“Social media. It’s fine in appropriate doses, but as someone who feels a little addicted to all of it, I find a way to accept how much time is spent on it and think it does something to the individual and society as a whole,” confessed one. Another suggested, “People should stay off social media altogether.”

Eating a Ton of Sugar and Processed Foods

“Eating a ton of sugar and processed foods,” one replied. Next, a dentist admitted, “I’m a dentist, and some people with decay everywhere genuinely think they eat an ok diet because having so much sugar is normalized.”

“Stop eating stuff that causes your teeth to rot. It’s disgusting, and it smells.” Finally, a third said, “My teeth in childhood and early adulthood were shocking. But I’ve not needed one filling since I gave up sugar and processed food five years ago!”

Alcohol

The third top-voted answer is alcohol. Someone said, “Finally, so glad to see this comment! It’s become so socially acceptable that you’re the weirdo if you don’t drink. Still, it’s normal if you become an everyday drinker or party all the time; self-destructive behavior is typical nowadays.”

Overworking

“Overworking. I had a job a few years ago that forced so much overtime. It was 12-hour shifts, and I had a whopping two days off in one month. It was hell. My fingers were cracked and bleeding from loading boxes in the cold. My feet were a mess of callouses and blisters from being on them on concrete 80+ hours a week.”

“I had so little time for myself that I was starting to feel like I wasn’t even a person anymore, just a machine. And a commute that took another hour every day, and I barely had time to eat and shower. I lost 15 pounds in two months without even trying. Never again,” shared one.

Sleep Deprivation

“Sleep deprivation. I’d go so far as to say it’s encouraged even,” one suggested. Another shared, ‘This is true, and it’s not only unhealthy but dangerous too. When I tell people how I worked 70 hours per week and went to school full time, I sometimes get, ‘Oh yeah! It means you know how to work hard! Good for you!’ Like no, not good for me.”
