A good nights sleep is so important! You always feel a difference in the morning when you’ve had a good nights sleep.
I’m sure you all agree that once you become a Mom a good nights sleep is not as easy to get as it once was. When I had my 2nd child I didn’t sleep for 9 years. I’m not even kidding. He only started sleeping all night once his little sister was born last year.
Sleep is so Important
Getting a good nights sleep is so important for so many reasons. Our physical health and mental health are affected by your sleep. I always feel so much better once I’ve had a good nights sleep and it took me years to be able to really make sleep a priority.
I wanted to share with you some of the things I do that help me get a great nights sleep. Sorry, I don’t have an answer on how to stop your kids from waking you up at night, but if you do please let me know! 🙂
Tricks to Getting a Good Nights Sleep
Using an Eye Mask
I only started using an eye mask when I got one in my Fab Fit Fun box a couple years ago but I am so glad I tried it out. It’s so comfortable and it makes everything around you nice and dark. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference an eye mask made. If you haven’t tried one, I suggest you do! I’m sure you’re going to love it.
Get Rid of All Lights In Your Room
So if you don’t use an eye mask you want to make sure that your room is dark. I mean dark, no hallway lights, no bathroom lights, no lights from your phone or alarm clock. I also mean no little red lights from your TV. Get rid of all the lights in your room. Put something in front of those little lights on your TV so you don’t see them. I don’t know why but a dark room makes a big difference in the quality of sleep you get. Try it, let me know what you think.
Put Your Phone Down at Least an Hour Before Bed
I know this one is hard to do but trust me, it works. Get off your phone at least an hour before you go to bed. This hour of no phone time or tv time will let you start to relax and not think about all the things you have to get done or all the things you saw on social media. I always need some time to wind down and relax before getting tucked into my nice warm cozy bed. Put the phone down, make yourself a delicious latte, go to bed, and chill out.
Keep Warm Fuzzy Socks By Your Bed
This has to be my favorite trick. I cannot sleep with cold feet! If your feet are warm you will drift off into dream land so peacefully. That’s why I always keep a pair of fuzzy socks near my bed. I’m talking fuzzy socks….not any normal pair of socks, the fuzziest socks that you can find. They will warm up your feet so fast, you won’t even need them on long. Usually during the night I always take them off because they work too darn good! Once my feet are warm I’m OK to sleep without them but I always know where they are if I need them.
Use a Sound Machine
The last few years I’ve heard about sound machines to help babies sleep. I never used one for my older boys but I did with my little girl. I couldn’t believe how nice it felt to sleep to a white noise! I can’t even explain it but it really helps. I feel like when I sleep with a sound machine on I have a sounder sleep, like I’m in a deep sleep. I recently got one for my youngest son who has always been a terrible sleeper and he loves it too. He prefers to switch it from white noise to some classical music which is also really nice.
