I’m sure we’ve all heard about a situation where one partner is convinced the other is cheating or is constantly looking for a reason to say they are cheating. Is this because of issues they have insecurities or is it valid?

A Reddit user shares her story of her husband thinking she’s convinced he’s having an affair no matter what he says or does.

A New Houseguest

The original poster (OP) starts off by saying that her mother recently let a young woman live with her after losing her house to a house fire.  She stays with OP’s mother until her new house can be built. The woman has been helping OP’s mother out since she just got surgery, and she’s helping with taking OP’s kids to the bus stop in the morning.

OP recently discovered that her mother and the woman had been coming over earlier so that she and OP’s husband could work out together. OP said she was a little annoyed that her husband hadn’t said anything, but he says it isn’t a big deal.

Strong Accusations

OP said that when she came home one night, she swore she could smell the woman’s distinct perfume in their bedroom, near the bed and the window. OP asked her husband about it, and he became extremely irritated. He asked what she was implying and asked if OP was insinuating that he had brought her into the bedroom.

He also asked why she had “made up her mind” that he was up to something, even though OP hadn’t accused him of anything. OP said she was “taken aback” by his reaction, but he says her questions were passive-aggressive, and her wording is what set him off.

Were OP’s questions passive-aggressive? Was her husband’s reaction suspicious? How would you have reacted in this situation?
