After a man posted asking the men of Reddit what phrases they despise hearing come out of women’s mouths, a woman cross-posted the thread asking women the same question about men.
1. I’m a Nice Guy
Many women in the thread can’t stand hearing that you’re a nice guy. One explained, “If you’re a nice guy, you don’t need to tell people. Your actions show it.” Another added, “Telling me you’re a nice guy is telling me you are, in fact, not a nice guy.”
2. Friend Zone
Someone noted the friend zone. “If you want to date someone, don’t be friends with them. Ask them out, and if they’re interested, yay.
If they’re not, move on. If you’re friends first and realize you have feelings for them, tell them to see if they’re interested. If they are, yay if not, move on. No one owes you a relationship.”
3. Smile
Several women hate being told to “Just smile.” One woman confessed, “This makes me rage, especially at work.” Another added, “And the variant, ‘You should smile more often.”
Finally, a third shared, “I especially hate this when you’re just sitting there yourself, and some dude tells you to smile. Like, I’m supposed to sit here grinning like a weirdo?”
4. Shaming Women Double Standards
“Not much that I don’t also hate hearing from women,” one confessed. “But one thing is any phrase that shames women for being promiscuous while not holding men to the same standard.
5. “Oh, So You Can’t Have Friends?”
One woman explained, “Gonna pull this from my high school and college archives, any variation of Oh, so you can’t have friends?’ Any woman who has ever heard this knows it’s a direct response to a number rejection.
Like, sir, you weren’t trying to be my friend when you asked for my number. But I’m supposed to believe that’s what your intentions are now?”
6. Men Are More Logical
The men are more logical thing always makes me laugh. My dad used to say men are ‘logical; women are emotional.’
Meanwhile, he is far angrier than my mom, has a more challenging time keeping his cool, and refuses to consider other people’s opinions about things because it annoys him. But my mom has more empathy. Therefore she is ‘more emotional,’ according to him.”
7. Just Take It as a Compliment!
One woman elaborated after being catcalled, hearing, “Just take it as a compliment” from Jeremy, who is bald and calls his pot belly a six-pack of beer!
Sure! It is my life’s work! To be catcalled by some sex-starved misogynist who hates his life because his wife hates him too!”
8. Not All Men
One noted, “Hearing, “Not all men,’ is so annoying. Or it’s just our biology to [insert gross behavior]” no, it isn’t. You’re just an entitled creep.” Several women in the thread agreed with this sentiment.
9. Dating Is Much Easier for Women
“Dating and relationships are much easier for women,” one shared. “No, no, they’re not. It might be easier to get casual hookups.
Still, while men have a more challenging time finding someone at the very start, women have to sift through all the men lying to get adult relations to try and find a guy who wants a relationship. Also, women have to deal with more dishonesty in dating.”

10. Biological Clock Is Ticking
Finally, a woman confessed, “I don’t have or want children. A guy I dated told me I would change my mind once my biological clock kicked in. Like, Dude, I know my own mind. Needless to say, that relationship was doomed.”
