2 – Lemon Juice
Another user added, “Lemon juice is a wonderful cleaning agent no one thinks about. S*** stuck on pans? Put a splash of lemon juice in some hot water, soak for 5-10 minutes, and BAM, that shit is practically crawling out of the pan on its own. Works great for cleaning surfaces and all sorts of stuff, and it smells amazing. Lemon juice is a gift from the gods.”
3 – Smelly Fridge?
To which a third user responded, “If you have problems with a smelly fridge: First and foremost clean out the bad stuff. Then put a few slices of lemon on a plate and it’ll smell good in no time!”
4 – Use Dryer Sheets For Dusting
Spring cleaning can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be expensive. One savvy user spotted an alternative when it comes to dusting in the home – using dryer sheets! Repurposed for different uses, these sheets are almost as effective as using those expensive Swiffer products we all know and love. This useful tip can help you get the job done quickly and economically. With this advice in mind, tackling your spring cleaning projects should become a lot easier this year.
5 – Soap Scum Hack
One stand-out tip to help make spring cleaning routines a bit easier is to keep dryer sheets handy. Not only do they work wonders on reducing static when added during the drying cycle, but a user also mentioned that occasional use in the shower can help minimize soap scum buildup on glass. If you are going through regular cleaning, try using one of these sheets periodically in order to maximize your results and proactively reduce scum accumulations with just one small additional step!
6 – Remove Countertop Stains
Someone commented, “Have a tough stain on your countertop? Use powdered dishwashing soap. Wet the stain, sprinkle on some soap and rub with a sponge. I have even used this to remove a light burn from a hot pan in my counter.”
7 – Musty Smelling Towels?
A Redditor recently suggested an effective way to remove old and musty odors from towels: by washing them with hot water and a cup of vinegar, then immediately repeating the cycle with regular laundry detergent. This simple trick not only eliminates odors but can also help reinvigorate the towels like they were fresh off the store shelf. Furthermore, this method is infinitely more cost-effective than buying brand new towels every time odors develop.
8 – Make A Dirty Sponge Clean
This user came in with two cleaning tips in one comment, “When you are done with a sponge, ring it out and put it in the microwave for one minute. It will disinfect it and get it almost dry. This will keep it sanitary and from smelling gross.
9 – Dirty Coffee Pot?
To clean your coffee pot, Run a brew with only vinegar, and then run it with only water. Lastly, use a slice of bread to wipe out the entire thing.“
10 – No More Caked On Food!
Finally, a Redditor responded, “Run your sink water to HOT for a few minutes before you start your dishwasher. No more caked on food. Also, powder dishwasher soap works better than liquid, since it has a bit of abrasiveness.”

11 – Ice Cubes On Carpets?
One Redditor said, “When indentations are left in carpet after moving furniture around, put an ice cube in the spot to melt overnight and the carpet will be fluffed back up in the morning!”
12 – One Extra Job A Day
A second user added, “Make it a point to do one thing extra around the house every day. It does not have to be big, just something that you would not normally do when you go about your everyday life. Over time, this makes a big difference in the amount of order/cleanliness in your life.”
13 – Save Your Paint Can Lid
Another Redditor gave this paint tip, “If you use up all the paint in the can throw the can away and throw the lid in a Ziploc bag, most places put a sticker on top with all the info on it to remake the paint even if it’s custom or the dried pain on the lid can be used for a match”
14 – Easy Access Trash Bags
Here is a great tip that one user shared to make organizing the kitchen easier – putting replacement trash bags in the very bottom of the trash can. This will save you time since you won’t need to search high and low for a new bag when it’s time to swap them out. Other small touches, such as these, can make a huge difference when you want a well-organized environment with as little effort as possible.
15 – Increase Your Homes Airflow
A user commented, “Air quality in most houses do suck. Don’t just open windows, open windows and use fans improve airflow in the house (just like you do with a computer case). Your house needs to breathe too.”
16 – Keep Freezer Food Sealed
Another Redditor responded, “To cheaply and easily seal part used bags of loose veg, meat, fries, onion rings, etc in your fridge/freezer: use a pair of scissors when opening the packet on one of the shortest ends to remove a 15-20mm strip and use that to tie the end off.”
17 – Keep Cupboards Clean
A Redditor gave this useful rental tip, “If you move in in a rented apartment take paper and lay them on all of your cupboards and cabinets- that way you don’t have to clean the shit out of your wrist when you move out! Just throw the papers away!”
18 – Upside Down Lids?
Another user gave this storage tip, “When storing pots and pans, put the lids on upside down, that way you can stack them but keep the lids with the correct one.”
19 – Hanging Clothing
If you want to donate clothes, you should try this user’s idea, “When I hang my clothes, I scoot everything to the right, and hang my clothes on the left. Over time, the things on the right are clothes I don’t end up wearing (with exception of dress shirts, etc) on a usual basis. So I donate them.”
20 – Packing Tape For Posters
This user has a way to stop a poster disaster, “Have a lot of posters that you like? Take some packing tape and slap some pieces on the back side of the corners to prevent ripping when taking them down”

22 – Always Have Matching Socks
Another user said, “More lifestyle than household but: find one type of socks that you really like, buy ~14 pairs of them and then throw out all socks that are not of that type. Enjoy not having to pair-up your socks or hunt for a matching pair.”
23 – Rubber Mallet Or Hammer?
A Redditor added, “When you think you need a hammer, most of the time you actually need a rubber mallet. Hammers are for hammering nails; for most other things, they’ll just damage the thing you’re hitting. Rubber mallets are great for hitting things without bashing the holy fuck out of them.”
24 – Never Forget Your House Key
A fourth Redditor suggested, “Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I made it a habit to only close the door to my appartment by putting the key in the lock and drawing the door shut with my key. This way, I’ll never forget to lock the door after me.”
25 – Store Bottles Upside Down
If you’re always pressed for time in the spring, then try implementing some basic time saving tips. For example, take the advice from one user and store your gel-tabs upside down so that they don’t become stuck to the bottom of the bottle. It’s a simple solution that can save you a significant amount of time rummaging around trying to forcibly remove them.
26 – Wrinkle Free Clothing
A Redditor added, “If you have a wrinkly shirt or pants, and you don’t have the motivation or time to iron them, throw them in the dryer with a wet washcloth and a dryer sheet for 5 minutes. They’ll come out hot, smelling fresh and wrinkle free.”
27 – Cleaning Free Weekend
A great tip shared by a Redditor that can make all the difference in between having an enjoyable spring, or wasting your days indoors taking care of cleaning chores is “never leave a room without picking up at least three things that need to be put away”. It might seem like a small step, but over time this approach helps you naturally create tidy living spaces with very little effort on your part.
28 – Valeline Lable Remover
Spring can be a busy season – it’s the perfect time to start some new projects and clean up around the house. If you’re trying to save some time, here’s a tip – use Vaseline! Petroleum jelly really comes in handy when removing labels from glass containers. Not only does it take off the label without leaving any adhesive residue behind, but it makes cleaning so much easier too.
29 – Garbage Disposal Hack
One time-saving tip people may not know about is in dealing with a stuck garbage disposal. A Redditor commented “If your garbage disposal gets stuck, try using a toilet plunger on it.” It might seem like an unlikely solution, but it could be just the thing to get your garbage disposal unstuck and working properly again.
30 – Save Your Washer
A great tip that is often overlooked is using a filter over the waste water hose coming out of your washing machine. Not only can this save you valuable time and effort, but it can also help prevent costly plumbing repairs in the future. The filter will work to catch any lint or debris that could otherwise clog up your pipes, which would lead to unpleasant (and expensive!) repairs later on.
Redditors really had some great spring cleaning tips, and I bet you also have some. What are your favorite tips for cleaning, organizing, or to help save time?
