We all have that one friend who is just a tad bit lazy, but somehow it works for them. They may wait for the last second, but they seem to be really good at being lazy and getting things done!
Which one would think is counterproductive. But, recently, on Reddit, someone asked the question, “What do lazy people do best? And people came up with some pretty straightforward answers many can agree with.
Repetitive Tasks
Do you hate repetitive tasks? Maybe you need a lazy person to do it; they might just be able to figure out how to get it done quickly.
One Redditor said, “Repetitive tasks – give it to a lazy person, and they may spend an hour to find the easiest way to do it.”
Procrastinating
I’ll do it later. Oh, I have plenty of time. Relax.
A user commented, “I would tell you how good I am at procrastinating, but meh, I’ll get to it eventually.”
Another added, “Procrastinate until the last second.”
Finding The Easiest Way
Can’t figure out how to do something the best way? No problem!
One user replied, “Find ways to do things easily.”
A second user added, “The old saying goes if you need something done, ask a lazy person because they will figure out the quickest way to do it.”
Being Lazy
What are some times you’d actually want or need to be lazy?
A Redditor replied, “Being lazy.”
To which a second Redditor said, “What a lazy answer.”
Getting Out Of Work
Need a way to get out of doing something? Ask a lazy person how.
A most liked comment read, “getting out of work. I’ve seen people spend more time trying not to do something than they would have spent just doing what they were supposed to do in the first place. Cue my younger daughter, who will sit and balk and refuse to do homework longer than what it would have taken to just do the assignment in the first place.”
Door Dashing
Can you top this example of laziness? At least they give those drivers some work and money.
One honest Redditor replied, “McD’s used to be three buildings away from my house. I could watch the DoorDash person wait in the restaurant and then drive the entire way to my house from my living room window. They always called to make sure my address was right. Yes, I am just very lazy, and I didn’t want to put on pants.”
A second user said, “Doordashing, Grubhub, and UberEats were all invented by lazy people.
Nothing
We could all take a lesson here and do nothing occasionally. Life is so busy, and we often forget to slow down.
A user replied, “They are best at doing nothing.”
Many comments simply read, “Nothing.”
A third reply said, “nothing, literally nothing, like, not doing anything.”
Investing
Investing takes patients and time. It’s not easy. Investing can be a great way to make your money grow without having to do a thing.
One Redditor added, “Buy and hold investing…the hardest thing to do is to do nothing in that game.”
Another said, “Investors are lazy people.”
Looking Busy
This one made me chuckle, but it is also something you have to do in most part-time jobs.
A Redditor said, “Pretend to look busy at work.”
Another comment read, “Invent creative solutions to slack off at work while getting things done.”
Efficiency
A user commented, “Efficiency! Need a problem solved as efficiently as possible? Give it to a lazy person. Minimal effort spent to achieve maximum results.”
A second comment said, “Find places where efficiency can be improved.”
Programming
One Redditor commented, “Programming, for sure.”
Another user replied, ” Write code, sometimes. You have to be lazy in the right way.”
A third commenter said, “Programming. The two hallmarks of a great programmer are audacity and work avoidance.”
Innovating
Need a way to get something done, but you can’t figure out the best way?
A comment simply said, “Innovate.”
To which a user replied, “ Innovate how to get something done with as little actual work as possible.”
Upsetting the Hard Workers
I think most of us have felt this way before.
An upset Redditor commented, “Upsetting every hard worker around them who has to pick up their slack! If you’re lazy and don’t do your job that’s bad enough, but if you do more work for someone else in that process, p*** right off!”
Another Redditor replied, “They ruin your life. I have a training partner who is as lazy as it gets, and the sport suddenly became boring. I don’t know why he does it if he keeps making excuses, but I try not to discourage him. I learned to stay the f*** away from lazy people because the best thing they can do is affect your productivity flow.”
Making Excuses
Nah, I’m not lazy! I’ll get to it!
One user said, “Convince you they are not lazy.”
A second Redditor simply replied, “Make excuses.”
Inventing
Sometimes you need a different type of mind to look at things.
A most liked comment said. “Ideas for the most convenient inventions.”
A second comment read, “Inventing something to make their life easier and lazier.”
Finishing Work Quickly
Is time an issue with getting things done? Not a problem for a lazy person.
One Redditor said, “ Ex boss of mine used to say if you want a job done quickly, give it to the laziest employee.”
A second Redditor said, “I once heard of a guy who would have rather hired lazy people over the hardworking ones because lazy people would find the fastest way to do anything.”
Relaxing
Finding time to unwind and relax is something we all need to learn to do more of.
A user commented, “they relax the best.”
Another replied, “Finishing all the snacks in like 1 hour while watching Netflix I can say this as a lazy f***.”
Sleeping
Do you need more sleep or want to because you’re lazy?
A Redditor simply commented, “Sleep.”
Another Redditor replied, “Yes! My lazy sister could find any excuse to “be tired” and have to sleep in or take a nap.”
Being In Denial About Being Lazy
One comment read, “Being in denial. I’m so good at it.”
A second user said, “My husband is in complete denial that he is lazy and the reason our apartment is always messy.”
Giving Presents
Everyone loves cash or a gift card as a gift, right? You can’t go wrong!
One Redditor said, “My sister is the best gift giver because she’s lazy; it’s normally cash or a gift card because she was too lazy to shop for me.
Another user replied, “Really? My brother is the worst because he doesn’t even want to go to the bank or store.”
