Have you ever wondered what’s challenging about being a man? After someone took to Reddit asking men, “What’s the one thing you hate about being a man?” These are the top-voted confessions.
1. Never Feeling Desired
“If there’s any one thing, I never feel like I’m desired. For example, no moves happen if I don’t make a move,” confessed one. Another admitted, “And if I have to ask for attention, to be desired, then whatever I receive doesn’t feel genuine. It’s a lose/lose.”

2. Being There for Everyone
“I’m stuck in a rut where I feel like I have to be there for everyone, but no one is ever there for me. So although it’s a lonely feeling, I try to combat it by making changes little by little,” one suggested. Several men in the thread admitted to having the same feelings.
3. Bathroom Problems
Many men in the thread painted a vivid picture of lining up to do their business, only for it to come out at a 40-degree angle, or worse, a split stream.
One man shared, “If you sit to do your business, sometimes you will screw up, and it goes through the gap between the toilet seat and the bowl. It all gets on your pants and underwear. Bonus points if it happens at work or in a public restroom.”
4. Lack of Emotional Support
“Lack of emotional support. People always think you have some hidden agenda,” confessed one man. “And when you voice frustration and upset, people take it as anger.”
Another stated, “Try being 6’4, 290lbs and having this issue. I’ve gotten written up at work because I was intimidating someone. For voicing my frustration.”
5. Baldness
“Baldness,” replied another. “I miss having hair to run my fingers through. I miss the sense of it being blown in the wind. I miss the slight protection against bumps and scrapes (cabinets are the bane of my existence).
When I had a girlfriend, one of the nice things she would do would be to drape her hair over my head, so I could reimagine having hair.”
6. Having To Kill the Spider
One man exclaimed, “Having to kill the spider! I’m scared too!” Another argued, “Grasshoppers for me. I’d rather go to the bank to get a loan and buy a new house.”
Finally, a third shared, “Everyone thinks I’m crazy for being freaked out by grasshoppers. Where I grew up, they were the size of hotdogs, always in the millions, and just came out of nowhere and their grabby little feet.”
7. Tons of Pressure
“Tons of pressure to lead, to earn, and to provide. All while walking on a very narrow rope,” replied one. A second man explained, “I put this pressure on myself more than anything else. So I know it isn’t good.
And I should be easier on myself, but I can’t break out of it mentally. Sometimes, it crushes me, especially when things aren’t going well financially. No amount of my partner saying it’s ok makes it go away.”
8. Turn Off Mental Health Disorders
Someone explained, “Many people in my life assume that I can turn off my anxiety and depression at will to power through because… manly man reasons.” Several Redditors agreed with this sentiment.
9. Being Excluded as Single Dads
“As a single dad, my son is generally excluded from things like park meetups or birthday parties because I don’t fit in with the other parents. I’ve been told it a thousand times in a thousand variations. They mean I’m a man, and mums don’t want me around because it’s generally just mums,” answered another.

10. Automatic Assumptions
“The automatic assumption is that I know about mechanics, carpentry, and DIY,” stated one. Finally, one advised, “My go-to response is ‘sorry, I’m about as handy as a foot.’ The little chortle distracts them long enough for me to escape judgment for being unable to put a hammer to a nail.”
