Oh boy. Recently I was scrolling a favorite internet forum when I encountered the question, “Men of Reddit, What are women not ready to hear?” Here are the top-voted responses. Don’t forget your popcorn and a notepad.

10. Your Feelings Don’t Make You Right

One started the conversation by stating, “Just because you feel an emotion strongly does not mean you are right (the same goes for men).” “And just because I’m not arguing back doesn’t mean you’re right. It just means you’re being exhausting to listen to,” another added.

9. Yes, You Do Need To Spell It Out For Me

“When women ask, Do I really have to spell it out for you?! Yes, you do. For me, anyway. I don’t pick up on subtle hints,” one man confessed. Another joked, “A slide show would be nice. Maybe a quiz along the way so you know I’m getting it.”

8. I Do Love You, Even If I Don’t Say It 15X a Day

One man volunteered, “That, even if I don’t say it 15 times a day, I do love you.” A second said, “It is true. But I find letting her know at least once a day is healthy. She appreciates it, and all it costs me is one inhalation of oxygen I was going to take anyways.”

Others argued they don’t think about telling their partners they love them but do throughout each day.

7. Yes, You Put On Weight

“Yes, you put on weight. And no, I really don’t care. You still look good to me. But, yes, you put on weight,” declared one. Another shared, “I just had this conversation after my wife asked for two years if I have noticed, finally said yes I do, but it’s fine…. Surprisingly I survived!”

6. I Am Not Your Ex, and I Am Not Your Father

Someone shared, “I am not your ex; I am not your father.” Another added, “Don’t forget the abuser as well. I dated somebody who couldn’t relinquish their romantic ex, abusive ex, or father issues, never again.” A third shouted, “I AM not your THERAPIST!”

Finally, one said, “I think many people try to work out their trauma with their parents on their romantic partner. People need to get more aggressive and thoughtful about getting into therapy before they get into serious relationships.”

5. You Are Too Mean To Yourselves

“You all are too freaking MEAN to yourselves. Allow yourselves some GRACE,” shouted one. Many men agreed with this sentiment before one added, “Sometimes, if my girlfriend says something demeaning about herself, I tell her to shut up.”

“Because I don’t like people saying bad things about my girlfriend, and she smiles. It helps break her out of negative mindsets with a lot of love and a dash of comedy.”

4. Diamonds Are a Scam

One man volunteered, “Diamonds are a scam.” “Yup,” another agreed. “Lab-grown is better for many reasons, at least they’re ethical, but there are so many better pretty rocks out there. Moissanite is a neat alternative that is always lab-grown and has better light dispersion/refraction than diamonds.”

“It’s almost as high as diamond on the Mohs hardness scale and is significantly more affordable. Plus, mineral moissanite was initially discovered in a meteor crater, so that’s extra cool points.”

3. Having Separate Social Lives Is Healthy

“Hanging out with my friends without you (her) is healthy, and the same goes for her hanging out with her friends. It’s good for your mental health,” one expressed. “Exactly! Being attached at the hip isn’t healthy for anyone. It’s a harmful mindset and controlling not to understand this,” another added.

“My free time is not by default my partner’s time,” another confessed. As much as I love spending time with her, my hobbies, interests, and friends also need my attention from time to time. So I can’t just be expected to spend every Friday night at your mom’s.”

2. You Look FINE!

“No, seriously, you look FINE!” exclaimed one. Another shared, “My cousin once told my friend, who told me I looked fine, that if a woman asks if she looks OK, you should never say fine and instead use a word like beautiful or something. I thought it was good advice.” It is.

1. It’s Your Hair Clogging the Drain

Finally, one man stated, “It’s your hair clogging the drains.” Another added, “It is. How could she think it’s mine when nowhere on my body I’ve hair that’s even half as long as the ones I pull out of the drain?”
