Organization
A user replied, “Organizing my weekly pills in my pill containers.”
Another user added, “When something comes out of my purse, it goes back in my purse. It was a habit built by losing my wallet and keys way too many times.”
Hygiene
One person shared, “Brush/floss my teeth… But the creation of that habit came because I didn’t for a long time.”
A second person replied, “I regularly use the bathroom right after waking up and also right before bedtime. The rest of life is pretty much a big adventure.”
Gardening
A funny comment was, “I take care of plants regularly for about 3 years now but can’t find a way to take care of myself, haha.”
Another comment was, “Both my houseplants and the plants in my garden are lovingly tended. Me…not so much.”
Pick Me Ups and Must Haves
One user said, “I make coffee (espresso/ latte) every day.”
Another user added, “Drink coffee!”
Pet Care
A comment was, “Take care of the cat .”
A second comment said, “Taking really good care of my dogs past the basics. They have special supplements, we have a special time where we look for ticks at night called “spections” where I get to gently go over their whole bodies, and it’s like a little bonding moment since we live in the woods. I don’t put off their appointments for the most part. I always get them to the vet right away. I don’t go to the doctor, I would never take myself to the doctor or make appointments. But my dogs will live the best quality of life I can give them.”
Healthy Routines
A user commented, “I workout every single day- almost annoying because sometimes I don’t want to, but I have to.”
A second user added, “Go to the gym.”
Taking Care Of Myself
One comment was, “Put on chapstick. I used to have horribly chapped lips as a child, and my sensory issues hated chapstick. I managed to push past it and now apply chapstick as soon as my lips started getting a bit dry. I can’t tell when I’m hungry, or I have to pee, but goddamn, am I in tune with when my lips are dry. It’s honestly impressive at this point.”
Another comment said, “Take my makeup off at night. It was drilled into me as soon as I started wearing makeup from my mom to never ever go to bed with makeup on! So even if I’m so wasted I can barely form a coherent thought, I’m able to wash my face even if it’s just like, makeup wipes lol, that and brushing my teeth.”
Hydration
A funny user replied, “I stay hydrated AF. Like. AF.”
Another said, “Drink 8 glasses of water.”
Accountability Partners
A comment was, “Cook! But that’s only because I cook for my partner if I’m by myself, ill be way too lazy and just end up not eating, lol.”
A second comment said, “Folding laundry (though not always putting it away and it joins a pile if it wasn’t put away before bedtime). My partner helps make sure we get this done. “
Keeping Tidy
A user said, “Make my bed. Every morning the dog sits on the pillow, and I sing the ‘tuck the puppy into the bed’ song and make the bed around him.”
Medication and Treatment
A comment was, “Taking my pills and an injection every morning. I miss maybe one day a month, on average.”
A second comment was, “Take my meds. Only because I can’t function without them, but it’s something!”
Skin Treatment
One user said, “I keep trying to get this sunscreen thing going, and it hasn’t worked out!!!“
A second user commented, “Facial moisturizer w/ sunscreen every morning and cleansing my face at night no matter how tired I am.”
Clothing Options
A comment was, “I’ve recently started getting dressed every day (as opposed to hanging out in my pjs), and that one’s sticking pretty well, too.”
Safety Management
A user replied, “One, I’m thankful for locking my apartment and car doors. It’s the only habit I’ve ever been able to form mindlessly without active reminding (thanks, anxiety!).”
Another user said, “Put my keys in a bowl by the door as soon as I enter the house. Don’t even realize I do it now. Saved me from many previous years of frantic searching all pockets and bags every day and locking myself out.”
