Trump Blames Republicans’ Strict Abortion Stances on Midterm Losses

Trump famously said before the midterm elections that if Republicans saw an overwhelming victory, he should get all of the credit, and if they suffered crushing losses, he was not to be blamed. As we all know, it was the latter that came to pass. Trump didn’t seem to be interested in taking the blame. In fact, he pointed fingers at other Republicans, claiming that their strict views on abortion is what lost them their races.
The Blame Game
Trump jumped onto Truth Social to air his grievances about his party’s midterm losses. “It was the ‘abortion issue,’ poorly handled by many Republicans, especially those that firmly insisted on No Exceptions that lost large numbers of voters,” he stated.

He continued, “Also, the people that pushed so hard, for decades, against abortion, got their wish from the U.S. Supreme Court, & just plain disappeared, not to be seen again. Plus, Mitch stupid $’s!”
Most of the blame from the GOP has been pointed towards Trump since the failures in the midterms. A red wave was supposed to bolster Trump’s 2024 campaign and remind the GOP why he should be their top choice for a presidential candidate.

Losing Hope
Instead, the GOP has begun to lose hope in Trump and his MAGA vision for the country. A New York Times analysis revealed that the candidates Trump endorsed performed 5% worse than the regular Republican candidates.
According to a Heritage Action report, the reasons the GOP failed so spectacularly were that they failed to counter the Democrats’ abortion messages, they did not put forth a clear agenda in their campaigns, and they lacked significant campaign funding.
