“Why do people see pregnancy as instant consent to just randomly touch your body whenever? It’s so stupid and gross. Even asking me puts me in an awkward position of saying, ‘NO, you total stranger,” someone replied.
“Honestly,” one admitted. “I’m half-seriously planning to make a ton of don’t touch me t-shirts to wear during pregnancy.” Another said, “Yes, I am pregnant. No, you may not touch my belly. That should be a t-shirt.”
“Pregnant people are not public property, and just because someone is pregnant doesn’t mean other people are entitled to touch them or give them unsolicited advice!!! Why is this so hard for some people?”
“Meanwhile, if you reached out and touched THEIR bellies unprompted, they’d be weirded out and angry. So what? You mean you DON’T like being touched without permission? Fancy that,” one said. Another confessed, “I’ve seen people touch other people’s bellies back. Suddenly, they’re not comfortable with a stranger touching them.”
