I love the beginning of a new year. It’s so exciting to me, a fresh start to crush any goal you want. A new chapter in your life and a new chance to be an improved version of yourself. We’re all trying to be a better person. Personally, I don’t believe in setting a ton of new goals that dramatically change your life, but I do believe in small changes that show big results.
This year one of my new goals is to better manage my money and pay down some debt. There are so many ways to do this so I’ve gathered up some of my favorite tips and tricks to save money and I’ll be sharing them all with you right here.
Seasons of Money
My family and I have experienced hard times with money and we’ve also experienced times where we were financially stable and doing ok. Everyone goes through different seasons in life and I believe the same goes for money. We all have different seasons when it comes to your financial status so I think it’s important to have good habits with money so you know how to balance it all as the years go on.
So many things can change in your life that will greatly affect the money you have. Creating good money habits is very important but it’s something not many people can do. These budgeting tips will be sure to help you along the way.
Save Money on Food and Groceries
One of the biggest expenses week to week might be your food and groceries. This is one area that I know I can cut down the cost to but it’s so hard for me sometimes, meal planning is something I want to do more often this year, if you go in with a plan you’re more likely to only get what you need and that’s it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone grocery shopping and I come out with a ton of food but nothing to make for suppers.
Buying seasonal foods will save you money, budgeting your meals will help and making a full list of everything you need before you go will cut down your costs. Have a look at these great recourses to help you more in this area of budgeting to help you save money.

Simple Tricks to Save Money
Sometimes small changes to your spending make the biggest difference in your long-term budget. You can try things like making coffee at home vs getting some at your favorite coffee shop or eating out less. Check out some of these other simple and great tips for saving money.
I’m going to try to minimize my instant purchases, it’s so easy to shop online now but I always forget to go back and pay off the credit card, this year I am going to either transfer the cash into my credit card before I make the online purchase or I will wait and go purchase the items in store with cash.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some amazing apps out there that will save you money on your groceries and some I will continue to use, but the impulse buys online is what I’m going to make an effort to reduce or just be sure I’m putting the cash on the credit card before hand.

Creating Family Budget
It doesn’t matter if two of you work full time, or one works part-time if you work in the house or outside of the house. Any money that is being made should be budgeted.
Another way to get your finances in order and to save effectively is to create a budget, planning your finances and seeing it all in front of you is a sure way to make you more aware of your finances and where you are spending money. It also shows you exactly where you could save. Anytime I’ve put a budget into use it always paid off. Don’t ask me why I ever stopped, I don’t have an answer for that. This year, I’m going to use some of these great sites and make up a budget that I am going to use all year long.
